About & sources
fttx.gr is an open, community map of fixed internet in Greece. It shows where street cabinets and telephone exchanges are and which buildings have fibre, so you know what you can get before you talk to a provider.
Where the data comes from
Fibre coverage and installations: Source: ΧΕΜΔ, broadband-assist.gov.gr. The Greek broadband mapping registry collects what providers declare for each building. We refresh it every month.
Cabinets: mapped by fttx.gr users, with a position and often a photo. Every new entry is reviewed by the team before it appears.
Map and addresses: © OpenStreetMap contributors, tiles by OpenFreeMap. Address search is also built on OpenStreetMap data.
What the map can’t tell you
Speeds are the maximum bands providers declare. Your real speed depends on the line, the equipment and the plan you choose.
Distances are straight-line. Cable follows the streets, so the real distance to your cabinet is longer.
How you can help
If you see a cabinet that’s missing, add it with a photo. If something is wrong, write to hello@fttx.gr.
Privacy and measurement
To find errors and keep the site fast, fttx.gr sends technical data to Unhandled (unhandled.net): errors, page and request timings, and anonymous page views and actions, such as that a search ran or a submission was sent.
We don’t send the address you search for, your coordinates, or the name and notes of a submission. We use no cookies for measurement and don’t record your screen.
Your IP address isn’t stored with page views. It’s used only to derive the country and an anonymous ID that changes every day. The server’s technical request records keep it, to find errors and abuse. Whatever you write in the feedback form also goes to Unhandled.
How to read the speeds
ΧΕΜΔ records speeds in eight bands. We show them as they are, with eight positions on the meter.
| Band | Band | What it means in practice |
|---|---|---|
| 1 Gbit/s or more | Gigabit fibre. | |
| 300 Mbit/s – 1 Gbit/s | Fibre to the building. | |
| 100–300 Mbit/s | Fast VDSL (vectoring) or fibre on a low plan. | |
| 30–100 Mbit/s | VDSL close to the cabinet. | |
| 10–30 Mbit/s | Typical ADSL, or VDSL at a distance. | |
| 2–10 Mbit/s | Old ADSL or a long line. | |
| 0.2–2 Mbit/s | Browsing and email, with delays. | |
| under 0.2 Mbit/s | Very basic use only. |
