How to read your router's line stats
Where to find sync rate, attenuation and SNR margin in your router's pages, the names they go by, and how to share them on fttx.gr.
Updated
1. Open the router’s page
On a computer or phone connected by Wi-Fi or cable, type the admin address into the browser. It is usually 192.168.1.1, 192.168.1.254 or 192.168.2.1, depending on the ISP. The router catalogue lists the default address for each model and ISP. The password is usually on the label under the router.
2. Find the DSL status page
Menus differ between routers and between firmware versions. Look for a page called DSL, xDSL, Broadband, Internet, WAN or Status. On many ISP routers the stats sit in an advanced tab or under device information.
3. Match the names
| On fttx.gr | What your router may call it |
|---|---|
| Sync down / up | Actual Rate, Line Rate, Current Rate, Sync Rate, Downstream / Upstream Rate |
| Attainable | Attainable Rate, Max Rate, Maximum Attainable |
| Attenuation | Line Attenuation, Attenuation, Attn, Loop Attenuation |
| SNR margin | SNR Margin, Noise Margin, SNR |
| Output power | Output Power, Tx Power |
| CRC / FEC | CRC Errors, FEC Errors, Corrected / Uncorrected |
| VDSL profile | Profile, VDSL Profile, Mode (e.g. 17a, 35b) |
Some routers show speeds in Mbps and others in kbps. The fttx.gr form takes kbps: 52.3 Mbps is 52300 kbps. If your router gives attenuation per band (D1, D2, D3), enter the first one.
4. Share your numbers
Open your cabinet’s page from the map and fill in “Share your line stats”. We don’t ask for your address or name. Every report is reviewed before it counts. Once three are in, the cabinet page shows what its lines get. If you don’t know which cabinet is yours, see how to find it.
For what each number means, read copper line basics.
